The Power of Gentle Words - Bro. T. Stephen

Beloved children of God in Christ, I greet and bless you all in the matchless name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. On this October 20th, I am very happy to meet you all through the Auspicious word. Today, too, I bring you blessings from the land of Israel, a good and spacious land flowing with milk and honey. May the Lord bless you, and may the peace of Jerusalem abide with you.

Now, what is the Auspicious word the Lord has for us today? Let us read Proverbs 15:1: “A soft answer turns away wrath.”

This means that gentle words and calm responses can diffuse anger and turn away a person’s wrath.

I often remind people that when arguments and disputes arise within a family, anger increases and can lead to sin. The Scriptures say, “Be ye angry, and sin not,” reminding us that when anger gets out of control, it can lead us into sin. That is why we must learn to control our anger.

Today’s verse speaks about giving a “soft answer.” In family life, to prevent arguments, when a husband speaks, the wife’s response should be gentle, loving, and kind, never wounding or hurtful. When we respond in this manner, we can prevent anger from escalating. A gentle reply from you can help prevent your husband from becoming angry. Likewise, when you respond with soft and kind words, your wife will be less likely to become angry, your children will learn to control their anger, and your parents will not be unnecessarily provoked.

On the contrary, if someone speaks one word and you respond with ten, speak in rage, or raise your voice, peace will be shattered. Some people often tell others, “Do not raise your voice; speak calmly.” Yet, they themselves raise their voices and shout. This is the exact opposite of giving a soft answer. When such shouting and harsh attitudes change, your home will be filled with peace.

Where uncontrolled anger resides, peace cannot dwell. Some people say, “My husband has a terrible temper.” Others say, “My wife gets angry very easily.” Some even say, “My young child has sudden outbursts of anger.”
Today, let all this anger be set aside. A soft answer! Come on, say it with me: “A soft answer!” Cultivate the habit of giving gentle, soothing, pleasant, and loving responses. When you practise speaking softly, you will witness great and wonderful things that you have never known or imagined. You will see these miracles with your own eyes.

When you respond gently, your husband will feel happy. When he goes to work with a joyful heart, he will be able to work more productively and think creatively. If he leaves home in anger, he may struggle to concentrate on his work, make mistakes, face penalties, and experience losses instead of profits. Keep him happy, encourage him, and support him, and the Lord will do great things.

Testimony

Sister Joy Prince shares her testimony:
“Last month, I sent prayer requests by email to Brother Stephen, asking him to pray that I would secure a good job and that our land would be sold for a good price. Brother Stephen prayed for each of my requests and replied with Bible verses revealed by the Lord. Holding on to those verses, our family prayed together every day.

Furthermore, we attended the one-day fasting prayer meeting of Anbarin Paathathil. During the individual prayer session, we shared our prayer requests with Brother Stephen and received prayer. The Lord heard his prayers. The very next week after the prayer, I received a job as an optometrist at Vasan Eye Care Hospital! Subsequently, our land was also sold for a very good price.” May the Lord perform such wonderful miracles in your family as well!

Prayer

Loving Lord, we thank You. Lord, You performed one miracle after another in the life of Joy Prince. Let consecutive miracles take place in the lives of everyone.

Give each person the habit of responding with a soft answer and developing a gentle nature. Whether they are husbands, wives, children, parents, or elders, teach them to speak calmly and kindly. Grant everyone this special disposition and virtuous character, enabling them to speak gently and softly without shouting.

In this way, remove the spirit of anger from their families and establish peace in their midst. Let peace abide within their walls and prosperity within their palaces. I bless them that their homes will become like little heavens on earth. Let every spirit of contention depart, and may the God of peace come and dwell among Your children.

Look with favour upon all those celebrating their birthdays and wedding anniversaries today. May the Auspicious word, “My elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands,” be fulfilled in their lives from this very moment. In Jesus’ name, Heavenly Father, we pray. Amen.
