WORK WITH ALL YOUR HEART - Bro. T. Stephen

Dearly Beloved in Christ, I greet and bless you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The blessed word that the Lord has given for you today is from the book of  Colossians 3:23,“ Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters. ”

From the above context we learn that whatever we do, we should do it sincerely.   We should work, not to please men but God. For He watches   all   our   work. For the Lord is in Heaven and does what He pleases.  He is a God who gives you wisdom, knowledge and wealth.  If you make Him the master and portion of your life then you will be a successful person.  May   be initially   there will be struggles. But later you shall enjoy   the glory of God and His righteousness. Many people often tell me that they have lost everything in their life because of their carelessness.  They say, “We have nothing left in our life.”People always calculate the material blessings of this world.  I would tell them that they have lost only worldly things.  But praise be to God, for they have not lost God who is the creator of all things. You can lose anything   in life.  But not God, for He will be your shield and shelter.

Apostle Paul speaks about the many advantages of being in Christ in the first two chapters of Colossians. He lays before us the glories of God’s grace, and the heavenly privileges, of which we are all beneficiaries. Paul turns his attention to practical application in the final two chapters of his epistle to the Colossians.   At first, he deals with the responsibilities, duties and mutual respect of wives and husbands towards each other, parents with their children, masters and their servants and we are encouraged to act circumspectly, and to work willingly and enthusiastically – and to do all that we do with our whole heart and in a manner that is pleasing to the Lord – as though we were working for the Lord Himself, rather than for people.

Therefore, our actions should reflect purity of attitudes and not be carried out grudgingly or simply due to necessity or need. There should be no inner murmurings or resentments, but rather our work should flow from an inner being that delights to be of service – and seeks to undertake all that we do enthusiastically and with blessed goodwill, as though we were doing it all for the Lord Jesus Himself. You may be a business person. You may be a teacher, a doctor, an engineer,    working   for constructions; you may be a builder, a carpenter, or a nurse. Whatever might be your profession, you need to work not for the money you earn, but for the joy of your work. God has placed you in that position so you need to do a better job, at your work spot. You need to rise up in life. You must be appreciated by your boss.  Only then you can hope for a promotion or receive an increment of payment.  Keeping this in mind, you need to work hard to excel in your career.  Whatever you do, do it enthusiastically, as something done for the Lord and not for men. Then God will honour you at your work place before others. The Bible says, “Do you see a man who excels in his work? He will stand before kings. He will not stand before unknown men. ”Therefore from this moment forward, whatever you  do, whether in word or deed, let us undertake to do it with a pure heart and seek to do it as unto the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father, through Him.

Prayer:  Our loving heavenly Father, we   thank   You   for   this   blessed day. Dear Lord, we thank You because You consider our sincere work. We believe that you will honour us at our work place, if we work faithfully and honestly.  Loving Lord, as we undertake the daily roles and responsibility in our life, we pray that we will undertake it willingly, enthusiastically and to the best of our ability.   We pray that in all that we say, or do,   we   may do it unto God for the praise and glory of God.

 In Jesus Name We Pray.

 Amen.
