Trust in the Lord. - Bro. T. Stephen

My Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I greet and bless you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The blessed word that the Lord has given for you today is from the book of Psalms 37:5, “Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him,   And  He shall bring it to pass.”

From the above context we learn that   without faith, it is     impossible  for us to be saved and without  faith  it is impossible for us to please God. God rewards those that diligently seek Him. Faith in God simply means to believe God’s word  Faith is trust what God has told us through His Word,  the Bible.   For it is not His will that anyone should perish.

You can assuredly trust God to finish the good work that He has  started in your lives. We need to trust God’s Spirit to work in us for our Christian growth.  Believing in  God means to obey what God  tells us in His Word. When we believe in God we desire to do what pleases Him. We do this by committing our way to the Lord and not trying to live the our  life in our own strength.

The bible tells us of the story of Zechariah and Elizabeth. She and her husband Zechariah were righteous before God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. But they did not have a child. They had been asking the Lord for the blessing of a child for many years. Having asked the Lord for many years, they were tired of asking. In fact they had forgotten all about their prayer. They were now well stricken in age. Elizabeth would not be able to conceive a child. Though their desire now seemed impossible, they committed their desires to the Lord and did not worry anymore. Years passed by,  but   God did not forget them. God sent an angel to visit Zechariah . The angel Gabriel said: ‘Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you are to call him John. He will be a joy and delight to you, and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord.” But he asked the Angel “How shall I know this?  For I am old,  and my wife is well advanced in years.”So   the angel said to Zacharias, “But behold, you will be mute, and not able to speak, until the day, these things take place. because you did not believe, my words which will be fulfilled, in their own time.

The Bible says, that   at   the appointed time Elizabeth conceived and she gave birth to a son,  as told by the angel. On the eighth day when they took the child to the temple, they wanted to call the child, by the name Zacharias. But Elizabeth said,”  No  he shall be called John.” And they made signs to his father, how he would have him called. And he asked for a writing table, and wrote, saying, His name is John. And they marvelled all.  And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spoke, and praised God. The words of the Angel came to pass.

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, Thus we see how Zacharias became mute, because he did not trust the words of the Angel .   Therefore we need to trust and  commit our way to the Lord and not try to live the life in our own strength.  If we commit all  our  ways to the Lord and really trust in God, in all thing and believe all  what He has told us in His Word,   then we would discover that our hopes for our life would line up with God’s will for our life.  If only every child of God would stop fretting about all the difficulties and evils in life and truly delight themselves in the Lord, by trusting His Word, resting in His promises and committing everything into His hands, He could carry out His perfect will in each of our lives.  May God bless you to put your trust in the Lord.

Prayer:

Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day.  Loving Father we commit all our  ways to You and trust implicitly in Your Word – for we know that You have a plan for our life which we might  hinder when we  seek to do things in our own  way. Keep us  ever looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.  May we trust You in all circumstances of our life. Whether good or bad,  but to trust in God.

In Jesus name we pray,

Amen.
