The Word Of God Comforts You - Bro. T. Stephen

Dearly Beloved in Christ, I greet and bless you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The blessed word that the Lord has given for you today is from the book of Psalms 119:92,” If your law had not been my delight, I would have perished in my affliction.”

From the above context we learn that the Psalmist David, delighted in the law of the Lord during his time of affliction. So he says, if it was not for the word of God, he would have perished in his affliction. That word which has preserved the heavens and the earth also preserves the people of God in their time of trial. We would have died in our sorrow and grief if the spiritual comforts of God’s word had not uplifted us; but by their sustaining influence we have borne all the depressions and despairs which naturally grow out of severe affliction.

If it had not been for the divine grace, of God, Our affliction would have crushed us out of existence, so that we would have perished. In our hard season nothing has kept us from desperation, but the promise of the Lord. When we become worn out with pain, it was the word of God, that had whispered to us its heart cheering assurance, and therefore our poor struggling mind has been able to repose upon the bosom of God. The Word “unless”; describes a horrible condition –of the Psalmist, and implies a glorious deliverance, for the psalmist did not die, but lived to proclaim the honours of the word of God.

Are you going through affliction? Are you struggling with mental depression? Is someone hurting you constantly, Are you filled with fear and anxiety? Does life seem to come to an end? What is your problem? Hold on to God’s word. Read the word with reverence and God would comfort you through His word. Whatever scaring situation you might be going through, God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you think or ask for. The Bible says, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.”God Bless You.

Prayer: Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. Dear Lord, we thank You for consoling and comforting David, through thy word, when he went through affliction. We too face a lot of problems in our life. Send Your word and comfort us too. Heal our wounds caused by people. Help us to overcome our grief and sorrow by the reading of God’s word.

In Jesus Name We Pray.
Amen.
