The Lord Is Merciful - Bro. T. Stephen

Dearly Beloved, I greet and bless you in the name of our Creator, Maker, and ever unforgettable Lord Jesus Christ. The blessed word that the Lord has given   for you today is from the book of Exodus 34:6,  “And The Lord passed before him  and proclaimed, The Lord, the Lord God merciful, and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth.”

From the above context we learn that David had tremendous faith in God.  David had foes both within the family, and outside his family. They waited to take away his life. So he said to God, “Show me a sign for good, that those who hate me may see it and be ashamed because   You   Lord,   have helped me and   comforted me.”David was pained at heart because even his wife was taken away from him and given in marriage to someone else.  He couldn’t bear the separation. King Saul treated him like a flea and kept chasing him throughout   his reign as the king of Israel. David was compelled to live in hideouts, in the forests and deep woods.

Are you being chased by your enemies like David? There may be many proud people risen against you, within your family,   at your work spot, in the ministry which you do, or in your college where you have been studying, be careful. See what David did, he did not curse or argue with his enemies; instead he silently proved that God was with him, and believed that he would fight for him. He said, “Lord you are a God of compassion, You know my heart, and there is none beside you.” Even my wife did not listen to me,   she has gone away with her father.  So he submitted his life to God asking him to take care of his life, and he complained about the people, who did not set God before them. And they have no conscious in seeking his life.

May be you too,  are honest and faithful to all your people whom you come across,  like David, but you have been targeted   innocently. You have been accused falsely; someone in your family has taken away the property that actually belongs to you.  Yet you have been harmless. Such people are loved by God and will also be comforted. No evil shall befall you, God himself will be a wall of fire about you and your family. He will guard you and protect you. David is, unable to bear the pain of his sufferings,   so he cries out to God for help. He asks God to show him a sign, for good, that those who hate him might see it and be ashamed because the Lord helped him and comforted him too. David wanted God to reveal to him,   that God was dealing with him for his good and not for evil. He wanted to ensure that God was with him and against all his enemies. His enemies could not allow the poor servant of God alone. Instead of applauding him and making him the chief of the army or giving him a high post in the kingdom, for winning the great giant Goliath   King Saul his, uncle was taking every effort to kill him by throwing javlin at him. Unitedly they sought the good man’s life. They hunted in packs and keen scent and eager foot to destroy him.

God has promised that He will not suffer the innocent, to be oppressed, but will always, at length, succor them. Thus David   confided   in   God, and   encouraged   himself   in   the Lord God of Israel. God will fight for you and exalt you as He exalted,  David    to  be  the  king  of  Israel after the death of king Saul. God will be merciful to you and deliver you from the hands of evil people. God says, for a little while I had forgotten you but later I will show mercy to you. God bless you.

Prayer:  Our   loving    heavenly   Father, we   thank   You   for this blessed day.   Dear Lord we thank You   for being merciful to   us.  For helping us get   along in this world, by Your strength. Just as you fought for David please fight for us too, as we are often attacked by several enemies.  Save us from their cruel hands. Make us stand erect before them at the appointed time. So that they will know that we belong to a holy God.

 In Jesus Name We Pray.

Amen.
