Jesus Comforts You - Bro. T. Stephen

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.  The blessed word that   God  has  given  for  you  today  is  from the book of  2 Corinthians 1:3, “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,  the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort. “

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,  “Blessed be to God” is an ascription of praise and glory to God. God  is  exceedingly  merciful. He delights in showing mercy to poor and miserable people, and is rich and plenteous in exercising His mercy. Not only is our God merciful  but  He is a God of spiritual comfort.  Whatever comfort or consolation the saints enjoy comes directly from God, the Father of Christ.

My dear Brothers and Sisters, Jesus says, I will not leave you as orphans. I will    come to  You.  God comforts  us in all our tribulation  that we may be able to comfort those who are in trouble. Just as Job was tested,  sometimes God allows you to go through trials and temptation. And through this God wants you to trust and rely on Him for all your needs. Therefore you need to fix your eyes on Jesus the author and finisher of your faith. Thus we are encouraged to come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy.  And  find  grace  to  help in time of need. The Lord is able to give peace to the troubled conscience and to calm the raging passions of the soul.

It is  the  nature  of God  to look after  His people. That is why we call Him , ”Our Father”.  Our   God   heals  the  broken  hearted  and  binds up their wounds.  Apostle Paul had been aware of how God had helped   him   while  he  was  almost  at the verge of death,  while ministering in Asia, in Macedonia and other places.  In all these experiences Paul realised that God was constantly with him,   to help him and support him.  During these difficult experiences,   Paul saw that God was using him to help other people too.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,  God  can   use  you also for His purpose.  God will bring many people into a right relationship with Himself through you.   Through Paul’s work God was making other brethrens much stronger. They very much needed the strength and courage that only God can give. If you depend on God then God will be your refuge and strength.  A  very  present help in trouble. The God of Jacob will be your refuge. God comforted , Mary and Martha over the death of Lazarus. The Lord prepared a plant and made it come up over Jonah , that it might be shade for his head to comfort  him  from  his  misery. And Jonah was very grateful for the  plant. This is how God comforts His children. David says, This is my comfort in my affliction,  for your word has given me life.  God  will  comfort  you  also  in  a  similar  way.

May the Lord bless you.

Prayer:

Our   loving   heavenly Father,   we thank You for this blessed day. Thank you Lord for comforting us through your word. Lord you heal the broken hearted and bind up their wounds especially when your children go through sufferings. We do realize that You comfort those in distress.  Help us also to comfort others.

In Jesus name we pray.

Amen
