I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. The blessed word that God has given for you today is from the book of Mark 10:16, “And He took them up in His arms, put His hands upon them, and blessed them.”
From the above context we learn that 2000 years ago while Jesus was going about preaching the Gospel of God, Some parents or nurses brought little children to Christ, that He should touch them, and bless them. Not because they needed bodily cures, but these parents and nurses, believed that Christ’s blessing would do their souls good; therefore they brought them to Him. Jesus ordered that they should be brought to Him, and that nothing should hinder them from coming to Him. Children should be directed to Jesus as soon as they are able to understand His words. Also, Jesus expected that we must receive the kingdom of God as little children.
Jesus took the little children up in his arms – and blessed them – Prayed for them, sought a blessing on them, or gave them the assurance of his favour as the Messiah. How happy would it be if all parents thus felt it to be their privilege to present their children to Christ! We see that a parent with right feelings will come to God with his children “in every way,” and seek his blessing on them in the beginning of their journey of life. Our children are given to us but for a little time. They are in a world of danger, sin, and woe. They are exposed to temptation on every hand.
If Jesus is not their friend, they “have” no friend who could help them in the day of adversity, or keep them from the snares of the destroyer. If Jesus is their friend they have nothing to fear. Therefore the duty of parental feeling,” is to train them in Godly love. He should seek God’s favour as the best inheritance of his children. With proper feelings he will rush to the throne of grace, and daily seek the protection and guidance of God for his children amid the temptations and snares of an ungodly world, and implore God to be their guide in this wicked world.
So children who have been devoted to God – because of their father’s prayers and their mother’s tears should never forget that their parent sought the favour of God as the chief blessing for them, and their great aim must be to live for Jesus, in the latter years of their life. Now a days, we see that there is no certainty that children are safe in the society. We need to keep a continuous watch over our children. But as Children of God we should, “Train up a child, in the way he should go, And when he is old, he will not depart from it.” Further we read in the Bible that, “All our children shall be taught by the Lord. And great shall be the peace of our children.” Children are a gift from the Lord; they are a reward from Him. “Jesus said, ‘Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. You should tell your children, “Hear, my son, your father’s instruction, and forsake not your mother’s teaching, for they are a graceful garland for your head and pendants for your neck. May God help you to bring up your children in the fear of the Lord. God Bless you.
Prayer: Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. Dear Lord, thank you for teaching us that we need to bring up our children in the fear of God. Help us to teach (the word of God) diligently to our children and talk of them when we sit in our house, and when we walk by the way, and when we lie down, and when we rise. Lord we thank You for blessing our children with knowledge, intelligence, wisdom and understanding.
In Jesus name we pray.
Amen
