My dear brothers and sisters in Christ, I greet and bless you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. The blessed word that the Lord has given for you today is from the book of 2 Corinthians 8:9, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sake he became poor, so that you through his poverty might become rich.”
From the above context we come to understand that Jesus became poor in order that you and I should, become rich. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ is beyond expression. The Bible says, Grace abounds for forgiveness of sins. More than that, there is abundance of grace to bring us to a life of overcoming sin. God saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works but because of his own purpose and grace, which he gave us in Christ Jesus before the ages, began. And since grace has been given to each one of us, Paul in his Epistles instructs us to excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in all earnestness and see that we excel in this act of grace also.
Paul had been commenting positively on the good works that were being carried out by the Corinthian believers – and the motive behind the generous things they were doing. Perhaps it was to stem the possibility of unfounded pride in their own generosity or to encourage an explosion of grace within this Christian community that Paul began to draw a stark and astonishing comparison with the great and generous grace that God had bountifully poured out upon all humanity through our Lord Jesus Christ – for though He was rich beyond all measure, yet for our sakes He became poor, so that by His poverty He could make us rich, beyond our wildest imaginings. What Love! What Grace! What a God!
In His perfect divinity and divine nature dwelt all the fullness of the Triune God head and in whom resided all the glorious, infinite, eternal attributes of God in all their fullest measure. Our minds cannot conceive of the infinite riches of the eternal Son of God, in the majesty of His existence. Because all things were made by Him – all the riches of the earth and the wealth of sky – the treasures of the oceans and the bountiful resources of the vast universe – all things were made by Him and all things were made for Him. All these unimaginable riches and the glories of His elevated heavenly status were laid aside simply because of His GRACE towards us. All the inconceivable and vast riches of His glory were set aside for your sake and for mine and He stripped Himself of everything – becoming so poor that He did not even have a place to rest His head.
Though He was the Creator of the universe He was born into a human race that had rebelled against their creator – He came into a fallen world that was lying in the evil one – a world that was in bondage to the evil governance of Satan a created being who rebelled against His Creator God. and the Son of God did all this for love of you and for love of me – so that by His deep poverty we might become rich. Gods children should always be the best. Even our speech should be seasoned with grace. We should be smart looking. Our dressing should impress others. People should say, He is God’s dear child. God’s children should look good in appearance, both in dressing and mannerism. When others see you, they should be able to identify you as God’s Children. Your dress, your laughter, your words and style if everything is fine with you , then God will place you in the best possible place.
God’s children will never lack any good thing. God does not prefer that we should suffer. Or live in pain and agony. Instead he wants you to be blessed in every way. In order to make you rich He became poor. That is why Jesus suffered on the cross of Calvary at Golgotha. Because He wanted all of us to become rich. God gave Job a double portion of blessing in life. To get God’s blessing we need to throw away all the dirt from our lives. If you displease God in anyway, you will not get the blessings that He has kept for you in your life. You should be perfect in all things in your life. God Bless You.
Prayer : Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. Loving Lord and heavenly God – how great is Your grace and love towards us– that You would strip Yourself of all You had and all You were to live a life of humiliating poverty, so that we could be saved from our sin and become a son of God. We Praise Your holy name, Lord give us victory in our life. Help us to live without failure in our life. We should be victorious in our spiritual life, too. We should be able to overcome the world, flesh and Satan. Let us shine in the Lord.
In Jesus Name.
Amen.
