Guard your tongue - Bro. T. Stephen
Dearly beloved in Christ, I greet and bless you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. As I waited upon the Lord, the blessed word that the Lord gave me to bless you today is from the book of Psalm 141:3, “Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips.”
The tongue is the important organ of our body . The Bible says in James 3:1-15 that “The tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.” A great forest is set on fire by a small spark. Similarly the tongue is also like a fire and when it is not in control, it corrupts the whole body.
The tongue has incredible power. We can use our tongue to either bring blessings or curses. Our tongue can be the most difficult thing to control and can leave us with great regret if we use words to hurt. Hence we need to guard our tongue.
How can we guard our tongue ? James 1:19 says, “Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry.” According to this verse , when we are quick to listen and slow to speak , then we will be slow to anger thus it will help us to guard our tongue.
As David prayed in Psalm 141:3, “Set a guard over my mouth, O Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips“. Let us also seek the help of God to fill us with His Holy Spirit to have power and control over our tongue .
Let our words always be gracious. The gracious words are sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.
God bless you.
Prayer:
Our Loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. I pray that You may bless Your dear children. Words can either build a person or even break a person. Father, let Your children speak words of healing and goodwill to others. In Jesus Name we pray,
Amen.
