My Dear Brothers and Sisters, I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. The blessed word that God has given for you today is from the book of Genesis 22: 8, And Abraham said, “My son, God will provide for Himself the lamb, for a burnt offering”.
My dear Brothers and Sisters, Today we find that love has grown cold among the members of many families. Parents fail to trust their children. Children fail to respect their parents. There is a lot of misunderstanding among the siblings. Some children keep a distance from their parents. Some parents rebuke their children so rudely that leads them to commit suicide. Husbands fail to love their wives, and suspect them for no reason. God will never be pleased with such people.
Children should obey their parents for this is right in the sight of the Lord. Fathers should not provoke their children to wrath. Husbands must love their wives and they in return need to respect and be submissive to their husbands. Your hope and trust with one another should never be shaken. Only then can true love be experienced with one another, and there will be peace joy and harmony in the family.
My dear Brothers and Sisters, we see such a wonderful relationship between Abraham and his son Isaac. God blessed Abraham with a son in his old age and he called him Isaac. The child grew up. God wanted to test Abraham. So one day he asked him to sacrifice his only son Isaac on Mt. Moriah. Immediately Abraham obeyed Gods word and prepared himself and his son for the journey. He took along with him two young men. He carried wood for the burnt offering and went to the place which God had told him. Trust in life is very important. Isaac had great faith in his father Abraham. He was quite young, he did not know that his father was going to sacrifice him as a burnt offering. Standing at the foothills of Mt Moriah he spoke to his father, and said, “Look the fire and the wood, but where is the lamb for offering?’’ Abraham said, to the lad, “God will provide for himself, the lamb for burnt offering.” Abraham built an altar and bound his son and laid him on the altar upon the wood. In all this Isaac never hesitated or made a hue and cry over the situation. Instead he obeyed his father. He had great faith in his father, just as Abraham had great faith in his God. Even though he prepared himself to offer his only son Isaac, he knew that God would replace his son. For it was a trivial thing for the Lord who gives life to the dead, and calls those things which do not exist as though they did. He never questioned his father. But trusted his father. He knew that there will be a good reason behind anything that his father does. Even while he was bound by cords and laid on the wood he never ever attempted to jump down or escape. He freely offered himself at the mercy of his father. He believed that his father always, did only good to him. When Abraham stretched out his hand and took the knife to slay his son, the angel of the Lord said unto him “Do not lay your hand on the lad. I know you fear God, for you have not withheld your only son.” Abraham found a ram behind a bush, so he took the ram and offered it up for a burnt offering.
Thus we see from this incident that God will provide your needs in a marvellous manner. For He says, “I will show them marvellous things.” For God does wonders beyond numbers. He does great things and unsearchable, Marvellous things without number. Even in the midst of difficulties God will meet all your needs. God will execute justice for you. He will bring you forth to the light.
God bless you.
Prayer:
Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. Lord thank you for teaching us the importance of being obedient to God. Teach us to endure patiently what God has bestowed upon us. May we learn to be like Isaac who trusted his father Abraham. Lord let not our hope and trust among our dear and near ones
Amen.
