God disciplines us. - Bro. T. Stephen

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, I greet and bless you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,  who is The Creator, Maker and ever unforgettable Lord. The blessed word that the Lord has given for you today is from the book of  Hebrews 12: 6,  “For whom the Lord loves He chastens”.

From the above passage we learn that the Lord disciplines those whom  He loves. Another word for chasten is discipline. Throughout the scripture, God portrays Himself as a Father. And all those who have received Jesus as Saviour are His children. Therefore He says, “My Son do not despise the Lord’s discipline and do not resent his rebuke, because the Lord disciplines those He loves, as a father the son He delights in.”   Proper discipline is proof of love.

God tests the hearts and minds of the righteous.  When you go through trials in your life you need to draw close to God, repent of your sins and ask forgiveness from God. Then you will be blessed. For whom the Lord loves he disciplines. It means that God sends trials in order that we may correct ourselves and return to God. Ask God to forgive our wrongdoings and reconcile ourselves with God. Then He will pardon us and accept us as His children. Through His discipline, He shows that He has paternal care for us.

He does not treat us with neglect and unconcern. The very fact that He corrects us shows that He has toward us a  fathers feelings, and therefore exercises toward us a paternal care. To restrain and to govern a child to correct him when he errs, shows that there is a paternal concern,  for him and that he is not an outcast. And as there is in the life of every child of God something that deserves correction hence it is universally true, that whom the Lord loves He disciplines.

If you are going through a period of tribulation, remember that God disciplines those whom He loves. You might be going through struggles in life because of debts, loss in business,   shame and humiliation because of family disputes. God says, “I will break your yoke from your neck and will burst your bonds”. Enemies shall no more enslave you. Only if God breaks the yoke from your neck, you will not struggle any further. You will experience complete freedom. God loved Job very dearly and so He wanted to test his faith. He placed a yoke on Job and hence he suffered with great tribulation. But in the end, it was for the glory of God. Job did not do anything against the will of God and so God blessed Job in great measure.

My  Dear  Brothers and Sisters,  You will also be blessed if you remain in the Lord during the course of your testing period. God will break the yoke from your neck and will burst your bonds. Therefore do not be afraid. Nor be dismayed because God will save you from all your troubles. God will be with you to watch over you. When you put your trust in the Lord, the Lord will bring you out of all your troubles.  You will live in joy and peace. God bless you.

Prayer:  Our loving heavenly Father, we thank  You for this blessed day. I pray that you may deliver us from all our troubles. Remove the burden from our neck and restore peace within our walls. May we cling to you during the period of trials and receive a double portion of blessing. Thank you Lord, for   Your everlasting love and kindness. May Your glory shine in and through us. Help us to realize that we are disciplined because you love us.

In Jesus name we pray,

Amen.
