Dwell Together In Unity - Bro. T. Stephen

I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.  The blessed  word  that God  has  given  for  you  today  is  from the book of  Psalm 133:1, “ Behold how good and pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.”

From the above context we come to understand that God expects all the brothers to dwell in unity and harmony.  God commanded His blessing to descend upon those who dwell together in unity. Just as there is joy when you come into the tabernacle because of the presence of God, likewise there should be joy and blessing when you gather all the brethren into your house. The brothers living together in unity was part of Christ’s prayer, just before His walk to Calvary. In his advancing years the apostle John pleaded, saying, “Little children love one another.”   Paul calls us to be of the same mind toward one  another maintaining the same love, united in spirit and intent on one purpose .

This is a song of David,  we discover king David rejoicing, and singing in his heart by faith with thanksgiving: saying  “How good and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony.. For it refreshes the soul and is a sweet fragrance that ascends to the Lord and glorifies His holy name. This was one of the songs of ascent that Israel would sing to the Lord with joy in their hearts, as they advanced on their pilgrimage to Jerusalem. This was a hymn of praise that would echo throughout the land of Israel, as God’s people travelled towards their sacred destination.

David compares the unity of brethren   like the precious oil poured upon the head that runs down the beard of Aaron, running down the edge of his garment. David further describes the unity of brethren,   to the,   dew of Hermon, that descends upon the mountains of Zion, for it is there that the Lord commanded the blessing, of life evermore.   We too are on our own march towards our heavenly home, but every step we make toward that day when the Lord takes us to be with Himself, should be a day when we live together with our brothers and sisters in Christ in gracious harmony and godly unity. Unity does not imply uniformity. In all our dealings there should be a godly spirit of unity and love. There should be a patient, kindness, gracious love, that comes only from the indwelling Spirit of Christ.

Many of you reading this message may not be in good terms either with your brother or sister for various reasons. The Bible says, one who hates his brother without a cause is more like a murderer. So it is high time to forgive your brother or sister, or anyone else in your family. They might have caused you much misery and trouble yet God expects you to forgive them. Because when you forgive them God will forgive you of your wrong doings. It is hard to forgive others but this is what God expects of you. Even while He was on the cross. Jesus cried out to His Father, saying “Father Forgive them for they know not what they are doing.”Call your brother or sister, today.   Wish them and inquire about their wellbeing, never hoard bitterness against anyone. The Bible says;   speak no evil of your brother. Invite your dear ones home and have feast along with them. God will appreciate your good will toward them. Then your home will experience real peace, joy and happiness. God Bless you.

Prayer: Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. Lordwe pray that we  may learn to live together with all  our  brothers and sisters in godly love and unity, and to You be praise and glory. Protect us  from wanton discord, disunity or division and help all our children to stand firm in the faith, offered to us  through our Lord Jesus Christ, Who has caused us to be united together in Him. Help us not to have anger or hatred towards others. But be gentle and kind in our behaviour. Teach us to be of help to others.

In Jesus name we pray,

AMEN.
