Double Portion of Blessing - Bro. T. Stephen

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. The blessed word that God has given for you today, is from the book of Isaiah 61:7, “Instead of shame you shall have a double honour, and instead of confusion they shall receive in their portion. They shall possess double in their land. Everlasting joy shall be theirs.”

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, from the above context we understand that our God rewards those who are faithful in their life. For God will bless such people with a double portion of blessing. Just as the waves of the sea keep rolling forever, there will be problems, trials, tribulation, testing and affliction throughout your life time. God allows problems in the lives of every individual. Whoever it may be or however high dignitaries they might be, all will undergo problems at one point of time or other. This is because God wants us to depend upon him totally. He gives them trouble that they might seek God. Some might say that the intensity of their trouble is increasing day after day. And they are unable to bear the problems.

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, God says, that trouble and trials will be there but will not exceed above a particular limit. God will not trouble you more than what you can. The measuring limit is defined by God Himself; therefore He knows how much you can or cannot bear. Since it seems beyond your capacity God urges you to be strong and bold in Him to overcome the trials of your life. God therefore says, “In this world you will have tribulation, but in Me you may have Peace.” God assures that if we overcome the trials without murmuring God will give you victory. God will never allow you to be a failure because victory comes from the Lord.

Dear brothers and Sisters if you see the life of Job he says, “If a man dies shall he live again? All the days, of my hard service, I will wait. He asks, when will a change come in my life? He was a great man of faith. He believed a day of bloom will return in his life. So he waits patiently for that day. He lost his cattle, his wealth, his property, and his children. He said, God gave and now God has taken away, praise be to the name of God. Job was the richest man of his times. People bowed before him. There were many to serve him. But now God had taken away everything from him. So Job in sack cloth sat among the ashes and scraped his skin with a piece of broken pottery. Yet he believed that God is able to return back all that He had taken away from him. His faith was immovable. Therefore God returned double portion of blessing. Indeed the Lord gave twice as much as he had before. God blessed the latter part of his life more than his beginning.

My dear Brothers and Sisters, God will bless you too with double portion of blessing. Just have faith when you go through trials and tribulation.

Prayer:

Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. Lord thank you for teaching through the life of Job how we need to have great faith in God. Not to murmur but be thankful to God even in times of hardship. Give us the strength to bear the trials that we face in our life. May we receive a double portion of blessing after a period of affliction. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
