Dearly Beloved in Christ , I greet and bless you in the name of our Creator, Maker, and ever unforgettable Lord Jesus Christ. The Blessed word that the Lord has given for you today is from the book of Exodus 3:8, “So I have come down to deliver them, out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up, from the land, to a good and large land, to a land flowing with milk and honey.”
From the above context we see what God says, about his people Israel. He says, that He saw their affliction, He heard their cry, and that He knows their agony with which they suffer in the hands of the cruel task masters. So God couldn’t bear any more of their sufferings therefore He said to Moses that He will deliver them from the hands of the Egyptians and bring them to Canaan, a good and large land flowing with milk and honey. God wanted to make his people prosperous after all their sufferings. The people of Israel suffered affliction in Egypt, for 430 years. They were treated as slaves. They were beaten and whipped, they had to make bricks without hay. Their wives and children suffered shame and humiliation. Actually when Joseph was the governor of Egypt, he saved the people during the time of famine. Not only Egypt, but also all the surrounding nations, were supplied with grains because Joseph foretold Pharaoh about the oncoming famine. They stored large amount of food grains and helped all the nations with grains during the time of famine.
It was then that Jacob and his sons entered Egypt and settled amicably. But later after Joseph died, the new Pharaoh ill treated the people of Israel, such that they lifted up their voice and cried out to God, to deliver them from the hands of the Egyptians. They were being tortured day after day. The people of Israel were in large number and the Egyptians were afraid of the Israelites. They wanted them to work for them in constructing huge structures like erecting pyramids, and great sphinx. Thus the Israelites suffered in the hands of the Egyptians. They were never paid properly for their hard work. They were suffering from poverty and hard labour. Though Moses was brought up in Pharaoh’s house as the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, for 40
years, he fled from Egypt and settled in Midian. Now Moses was tending the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian, and he led the flock to Horeb, the mountain of God. There the angel of the Lord, appeared to him in flame and God called Moses from the burning bush and asked him to go back to Egypt, and tell Pharaoh to allow the people of Israel to worship their God Yahweh, in the wilderness, and if he failed to liberate his people then God would perform signs and wonders in the midst of the people, such that Pharaoh and the Egyptians will themselves, ask the people of Israel to leave the land for ever with all their wealth and possessions to inherit the promised land Canaan, flowing with milk and honey.
Dearly Beloved , just as God saw the affliction of the people of Israel, God is watching all your problems. He knows all your pain and sorrow. He knows your agony. He has heard your cry; He wants to help you out of your problems. Are you afflicted by the creditors from whom you have borrowed huge sum of money? Is your boss troubling you at your work spot? Is the land lady causing tension to you because you failed to pay the rent on time? Is your neighbour afflicting you, causing unnecessary nuisance to you, hurting you with bad words. And inflicting pain to you such that you are unable to sleep peacefully? May be your mistress under whom you work, might be extracting too much of work. And abusing you often and not paying you well for all the labour you do for her. Well God has already sent His angels to support you and show mercy to you. God will bring an end to all your problems. God has seen your affliction he has sent his angels who are all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister, unto His children. God will wipe away your tears. He will prosper you just as He prospered the people of Israel in the land flowing with milk and honey. God Bless you.
Prayer: Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. Dear Lord, we thank you for watching over us. You see our tears and hear our cry. You act immediately to relieve us from our affliction. So we thank You Lord. We thank You for redeeming Your chosen people from the hands of cruel Egyptian task masters. Set us also free from all our bondages and help us to inherit your prosperity.
In Jesus Name We Pray.
Amen.
