Daniel’s Commitment

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. The blessed word that God has given for you today is from the book of Daniel 1:8, “But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the King’s delicacies nor with the wine which he drank.”

Daniel was a noble Jewish youth of Jerusalem. He was taken into captivity by King Nebuchadnezzar of Babylon. Daniel and his friends Shadrach, Meshach and Abed Nego, were brought to serve in the King’s palace. The King granted for them a daily provision of his royal food and wine which he drank and training was given for them that they might serve before the King. But Daniel refused to eat of the King’s delicacies and the wine that was offered to him. He made a commitment in his heart that he will not defile himself with the royal food. Daniel and his companions proved to be ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm. Therefore after their training, they entered the service of King Nebuchadnezzar.

Although Daniel was a captive in the land of Babylon, he was not ashamed of his relationship with his God. God blessed Daniel with wisdom to reveal the dream of King Nebuchadnezzar. So he found favor in the sight of the King. Then King Nebuchadnezzar fell on his face and prostrated before Daniel. Because Daniel made a commitment for God, he was honored by the King himself. He admitted that Daniel’s God was the true God, since he revealed the secret of his dream. Daniel was made ruler over the whole province of Babylon. Thus God exalted Daniel.

Dear brothers and sisters, have you taken a stand for the Lord? Or have you compromised with the things of this world? The Bible says “The Lord has set apart for Himself, him who is godly.” Are you set apart for God? Today if you make a commitment to God and obey the precepts of God and walk in the ways of God, then you will do well in your life and prolong your days in the land which you possess. Though Daniel lived in a strange land and culture that was not his own yet he proved unique among all the people of his times because of his faithful service to the Lord. Therefore God made him sit in the King’s palaces.

God bless you.

Prayer:

Our loving heavenly Father we thank you for this blessed day. Lord you reward those who diligently seek You. Help us to be committed to God like Daniel. Never to compromise with the things of the world. May we remain zealous for God. In Jesus name we pray,
Amen.

God the Giver

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. The blessed word that God has given for you today is from the book of Ephesians 3:20, “Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us.”

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, the above verse refers to the prayer of Paul, on behalf of the Christians of Ephesus. This prayer is focused on the natural appeal for spiritual strength from God in particular. Paul asks God to help the Ephfesians exhibit a faith which goes beyond knowledge. No matter how bold our requests may seem, God can do all we ask and much more. In fact God can do more than what men would ask for, as He did for King Solomon. He asked for wisdom and knowledge but “God blessed him with riches and wealth and honour, such as none of the kings have had who have been before him nor shall any after him.” This is how the Lord blessed Solomon. In a similar way the Bible says, that God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times that you may abound in every good work. God’s means, for accomplishing more than we can imagine comes through His strength. His work is done by the Holy Spirit’s power within us, rather than by our human strength.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, every one faces trials and tribulation in their life. Some are unable to handle their problems. At times they go to the extent of ending their lives. They fail to ask God for His guidance. They forget that God is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Therefore they fail to achieve their goal in life. They are unable to know the value of the power of God. They FG fail to seek God’s mercy. And so they suffer from even small problems that arises in their life. They are not able to withstand the difficulties or challenges that confronts them.

God wants us to totally depend or rely on Him. He wants us to communicate with Him and have relationship with Him so that we can call Him Abba Father, and ask him to help us in our helpless state. He is a loving Father. A God of compassion and mercy. We are His rightful inheritance therefore we have every right to ask help from Him. May we acknowledge Him as our helper, for He provides from His goodness for the poor. Those who seek God’s heart shall live. For the Lord hears the poor. And the Lord has not forsaken those who seek Him.

God bless you.

Prayer:

Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. Lord You are a God who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Give us the knowledge to understand, Your goodness. Help us to realize the magnanimity of God. And behave wisely and carefully. May we learn to seek God, and find Him. No good thing will You withhold from those who walk uprightly. Fill us with Your Hoy Spirit to inherit the power to attain Your blessing. In Jesus name we pray.
Amen.

Persistent in Prayer

My  Dear  Brothers and Sisters, I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus  Christ our Lord.  The blessed  word  that God has  given  for  you  today  is  from the book of  Hosea 12:4, “Yes He wrestled with the angel and prevailed.  He wept and sought His favour. He found him at Bethel. And there He spoke with us”

My Dear Brothers and Sisters,  From the above context we come to understand   that Jacob had power over the Angel who represented the invisible Jehovah.  Jacob was  left in a tight corner situation.  He was left alone.  So he wept over  his situation and made supplication to God. He entreated  with   tears  that  God should bless him and he prevailed. Jacob found God in Bethel. It was there that God made those glorious promises to Jacob, relative to his posterity. Bethel was the meeting place of God and Jacob. It was there that God spoke to him directly.  Jacob Prayed with tears from a sense of his own unworthiness and with earnestness for the mercy he desired. Jacobs wrestling with the angel was not only a physical conflict but a spiritual one. He cried with earnest supplication and prayers. And strove not  for victory but for a blessing, The extraordinary conflict between Jacob and the Angel was so excellent which shows that Jacob had  come into imminent danger of his life therefore he exerted his bodily strength to defend his life. Jacob called the name of the place “’Peniel ” saying “For I  have  seen God face to face  and yet my life has been delivered.”

Jacob was obedient to his parents. So they blessed him and sent him to his uncle Laban’s  place  as he feared that his brother Easu, would kill  him for cheating his father Isaac and taking all the blessings that was due to him. Since he obeyed his parents God blessed him. God blessed Jacob many times more than his uncle Laban.

My dear Brothers and Sisters if you obey the Lord God then He will bless you too. God expects reverence and submission to God.  Jacob humbled   himself   before God as he was left alone and he had no one to help him in that situation.  So he wrestled with God until the angel touched his hip socket and Jacobs’s hip was  put out of joint as he wrestled with him till  day break.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, Learn to be like Jacob who said “Lord I will not let you go until you bless me.”And because he persisted he prevailed. The bible says, “The violent take by force.” If you need an answer to your prayers then you need to pray until you have achieved your request. May God help you to be honest and faithful to God with implicit obedience and humbleness of heart. There was no more room for ego or selfishness. He admitted that he was “Jacob” So God called him “Israel” and changed his entire course of life.

May God change your life too and bless you.

Prayer:

Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day.  We thank you Lord because you are prepared to meet an ordinary man to change his course of life. Teach us to humble ourselves before You Lord, and confess our sins. Make us to pray until we receive our request. Cause us to learn from Jacob how to achieve success or victory in our life and be blessed like Jacob. In Jesus name we pray.

Amen.

The Healer

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. The blessed word that God has given for you today is from the book of John 5:5-6 “’Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity for thirty eight years. When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”’

My dear Brothers and Sisters, in a way we are all by nature mute to spiritual things. We may be blind and withered but God has provision for our cure if we attend to it. There was a pool by the name of Bethesda in Jerusalem, which means house of mercy. Jesus performed miracles to those who came to this pool for mercy. All those who were sick surrounded the pool. A multitude of people namely the lame, blind, paralysed and those with other disease flocked around the pool. Every day they would wait patiently for the angel to descend into the pool. Usually an angel went down and stirred the water and whatever disease it was, this water cured it. But only he that stepped first into the pool had the benefit of being healed. So no one with a disease would ever miss the chance of getting into the pool.

Jesus made a note of this man of infirmity who was lying there for thirty eight years. When Jesus saw him in such a helpless condition, Jesus took pity on him. He was lying there among the throng of sufferers, every sorrow of every heart, revealed that his life had been marred by the curse of sin. Jesus on that day came in search of him, and asked him “Do you want to be made well?” The man confessed that there was no one to help him get into the pool, when the angel stirred up the water. Jesus knowing his helpless condition said to him “Get up, take up your bed and walk”. And immediately the man became healed. It was a joyful surprise to the poor cripple to find himself of a sudden change in his limbs.

My dearly beloved Brothers and Sisters, Jesus came to preach good tidings to the poor. He came to heal the broken hearted to proclaim liberty to the captives. He came to save that which was lost. Here was a man who was diseased for thirty eight years. But in a moment God healed him. And he went home liberated.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, God wants to liberate you of your disease and sinful nature. God is willing to heal you, right now. All you need to do is to submit yourself to Him. The period of time is not a matter, to God. He will rescue you at His appointed time. The Bible says, For He performs what is appointed for me. And many such things are with Him. God is greater than man and He restores to man His righteousness.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, God will hear your cry, because He is the judge. He puts down one and exalts the other. God will not only heal you of your disease but also exalt you in due season.

God bless you.

Prayer:

Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. We are thankful to You Lord, for the healing touch of Your hand. You are sympathetic and kind, towards the poor. You heal the sick and the downtrodden. We exalt Your Holy name. We praise you for healing the sick man at the pool of Bethesda. Heal us of our infirmities. In Jesus name we pray.

Amen.

Chose The Good Part

My Dear Brothers and Sisters, I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord.  The blessed word  that  God  has  given  for  you  today  is  from the book, Luke 10:42 “But one thing is needful; and Mary hath chosen  that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”

Once when Jesus went to   Bethany   Martha demonstrated hospitality by welcoming  Jesus into her home.   She then kept herself busy with her task of serving her guest. Maybe she was preparing a meal in her home for her family.   In the meanwhile her sister Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and was busy listening to His words.  Martha  was  interested in serving the Lord Jesus with food and delicacies.  While  Mary  was  interested to sit at the feet of Jesus like a student learning at the feet of a Rabbi.

Martha was distracted by many tasks. And therefore she asks Jesus, “Lord do you not care that my sister has left me to do all the work by myself? Tell her then to help me.”  Many may empathize with Martha’s resentment of her sister for leaving her to do all the work.  But Jesus responded to Martha, saying “Martha, Martha, you are worried and distracted by many things, there is need of only one thing. Mary has chosen the better part which will not be taken away from her. “

The Problem with Martha is not that she was busy serving and providing hospitality but she was worried and distracted about many things of this world. Martha’s worry and distraction prevented her from being truly present with Jesus. Martha had missed out on the “one thing needed” for true hospitality. There is no greater hospitality than listening to your guest Jesus. So Jesus says, that Mary has chosen the better part which will not be taken away from her.

Dear Brothers and Sisters, are you worried over things of this Earth. Or have you set your mind on Jesus?  Learn to spend time at the feet of Jesus. Through prayer, Bible reading, and singing.  Jesus Himself had said, that Mary had chosen that good part which would not be taken away from her. Mary did not care about the things of this world.  She was more attracted to Jesus. If we abide in Him, He will abide in us. The Bible says He who is of God hears God’s word.  And if anyone keeps Gods word he shall live forever.   So if you seek God you shall be richly blessed.

God bless you.

Prayer:

Our   loving  heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day.  Lord   May we   have the desire to sit at your feet,  and not in the counsel of the ungodly. Nor shall we stand in the way of sinners. But help us to delight in the law of the Lord. Teach us not to set our heart in the things of this world,  but in the things  of God.  So that we may prosper in all that we do.  In Jesus name we pray.

Amen.
