Jacob Responds To God. - Bro. T. Stephen

I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. The blessed word that God has given for you today, is from the book of   Genesis 46:2,3.  “And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, “Jacob! Jacob!” “Here I am,” he replied. “I am God, the God of your father,” he said. “Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there.”

From the above context we learn that Jacob an old man was taking his journey and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. He was rather confused, whether to listen to his sons and move to Egypt or remain in Canaan. Because his sons had told him 13 years ago, that his beloved son, Joseph was dead, and that they had found his coat of many colours stained with blood. They had showed the coat stained with blood, to him and it was therefore confirmed that some wild animal must have killed him. Now after many years the same sons who told that Joseph was dead, now told him that Joseph was alive and was well placed in that nation of Egypt. There was a great famine in the land, so Jacob’s sons had gone to Egypt to buy grain. There they found Joseph in a very high position. placed as the Governor of Egypt.  So they told their old father the good news that Joseph was alive and that he held a high post in that strange land, and  had sent his chariots to bring his father Jacob to Egypt. But He was so confused in his mind.  For  he couldn’t   believe his ears.

In order to confirm the fact that God was with Jacob He came to him directly and  spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and  He said, “am God, the God of your father; do not fear to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there. I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again.   More than 40 years before, when Jacob was about to leave the Promised Land, God spoke to him in a dream Now, when he was about to leave the land again, God again brought assurance through a dream “Do not fear to go down to Egypt:”’ As Israel was   connected with what God did in the past he was assured of God’s plan for the future.

Being confident now he responded to God’s command and went along with his sons to Egypt where he was to  experience   great happenings, the joy of  seeing his beloved son, Joseph whom he thought he would never, ever see, and also  be blessed to  establish his entire family in the land of Goshen,  land of green pastures, as they were herds men. God told Israel what His purpose was in bringing this large family or clan down to Egypt. Israel’s descendants could grow as a large, distinct nation there. : The great reason Jacob did not need to fear the journey to Egypt was that God promised to bring him back to the Promised Land. God conveyed good news to him.  All the bad news that he had heard all these years about his son  came to an end.

God will bring good news to you also. So   “ Never hesitate, to respond to the voice of God. while you are not sure that it is God’s will; but when once you are certain that it is according to the Lord’s mind, then you need not have  any kind of fear.  Go straight  ahead, for that way  lies  your haven.” God is putting an  end to all your confusion and doubts,  on this day through this message. He is also bringing an end to all the bad news that you had been hearing about you and your children and instead  God  will help you hear good news. in future. He is reuniting many separated families, like that of Joseph and Jacob   after many long years. The Bible says,” In all thy ways, acknowledge   Him,  and He shall direct your   ways.”But as it is written , “For eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the hearts of man the things which God hath prepared for them that love Him.  What God did for Jacob was Amazing. He will do the same for you too.  God bless you.

Prayer: Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. Lord we thank You for directing Jacob through vision. You assured him of his journey to Egypt. Reveal your ways unto us also that we might follow your steps with discretion. Help us to respond to the voice of God and be blessed like Jacob.

In Jesus name we pray.

Amen.
