My Dear Brothers and Sisters, I greet and bless everyone in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord. The blessed word that God has given for you today is from the book of Habakkuk. 2:3, “The Lord has kept a vision, for an appointed time; it will speak at the end. It will not lie. Though it tarries wait for it. Because it will surely come. It will not tarry.”
My dear brothers and sisters, the Lord who promised is faithful. He is a God of truth. God is not a man, that He should lie, or a son of man that He should repent. The Bible speaks of Joseph, who had a vision at a very early age. He was his parent’s favourite child, because he never lied, nor did he do any wrong. Therefore his parents had an unconditional love for him. Seeing his good nature, the Lord gave him a vision, at the age of seventeen. Joseph had a vision, and he told his brothers. He said, “There we were binding sheaves in the field. Then suddenly his sheaf arose and also stood upright. And your (brothers) sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.” The second dream was that, “The Sun, Moon, and the eleven Stars bowed down to me.” He knew the interpretation of his dreams. All this indicated that one day Joseph would be elevated above all the members of his family. And they would bow before him. He had the grace to understand dreams. When his brothers heard this, they all became jealous of him. As a result he had to go through great affliction because of his brothers. Through it all, he knew that the ONE who gave him the vision was truthful.
For over thirteen years he faced problems after problems; but he never lost his hope in God. There in Egypt Joseph worked under Potiphar. He became furious when he heard his wife’s story about how Joseph had treated her. So he took Joseph and threw him into the prison for no fault of his. When he was thirty years of age, his vision came to pass. There was a famine in the land of Canaan. And so the sons of Jacob came to Egypt in search of food. Joseph being the governor of Egypt supplied them with food and grains. All his brothers bowed before him. They meant evil for him but God made him a blessing. Joseph said to them, “Do not be afraid, for I am in the place of God.” Joseph took good care of his father Jacob in his old age and his brothers also. Thus God exalted Joseph because he was truthful. God honoured him in that strange land.
My dear Brothers and Sisters, God wants to honour you also. But he expects you to be honest and truthful to Him. Trust in God just as Joseph trusted him. Even during times of affliction Joseph never grumbled against God. He knew that the one who gave him the vision was able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think. Never lose your hope in God. You will not only receive the blessing of God but you shall see the glory of God.
God bless you.
Prayer:
Our loving heavenly Father, we thank You for this blessed day. Lord we thank you for revealing to us the goodness of Joseph. Teach us also to be like him. To endure affliction patiently and to wait upon the Lord for the fulfilment of the vision in our life. May we be obedient to our parents like him. Help us to obtain blessing and be elevated in our life like Joseph. In Jesus name we pray.
Amen.
